A posting period is a period of time allocated to process invoices. In Compleat, you can configure specific settings relating to posting periods to ensure your invoices post to the correct open posting period in Sage 200.
In this guide, we show you how to configure your posting period settings in Compleat.
1. Adjust the posting date behavior setting
The Posting date behavior setting determines how Compleat handles invoices containing a posting date that falls within a closed posting period.
The options are:
- No adjustment
- Force to next open period (Invoices will be posted on the first date of the current posting period)
- Force to current period (Invoices will be posted on the first date of the next available posting period. For example, if you do this in January & the posting period for December is still open, invoices will post with the date of 1st December)
To adjust the Posting date behavior setting, follow the steps below.
If you only want this setting to apply for one invoice on a single occasion only, simply change the behavior setting back to its original configuration after you've carried out other steps in Compleat to get the invoice posted.
- On the homepage, click Configuration.
- Click Company management.
- Go to Behavior Settings.
- Find Posting date, & click Change.
- Select one of the actions from the drop-down, & click Save.
- Sorted!
Compleat now knows what action to take when an approved invoice contains a posting date that falls within a closed posting period.
2. Configure the posting date layout field
In your Compleat invoice layouts, you can configure a Posting Date field to appear on invoices. This is an editable field that AP operators can edit if necessary when they're processing an invoice.
You can choose one of the following settings for the Posting date field:
- At Header level
- As an optional field
- Turn the Posting date field off
This setting works in partnership with the Posting date behavior setting. AP operators can edit the posting date field on invoice headers so that they'll post to Sage 200 according to the Posting date behavior setting your company has in place.
To configure the Posting date layout field, follow the steps below.
- On the homepage, click Configuration.
- Click Manage layouts.
- Select the invoice layout you'd like to configure the Posting date field for.
- Go to the Field Configuration tab.
- Next to the Posting date field, select a setting from the drop-down.
- Click Save Layout.
- Nice one!
You've configured where/if the Posting date field appears on invoices.
